Privacy Policy

ThrowZone — Axe Throwing Scoring App
Effective Date: June 9, 2026
Developer: EMSERO LLC

Overview

ThrowZone is a tablet-based scoring application for axe throwing venues. This privacy policy explains how the app handles user data.

Data Collection

ThrowZone operates entirely offline. Player and venue data — names, scores, photos, session history — are stored only on the local tablet and are never transmitted to EMSERO or to any third party.

Data stored locally on device

The following data is stored locally on the tablet where the app is installed:

  • Player names entered by staff or players during game setup
  • Game scores and session history for leaderboards and statistics
  • Player profile photos captured via the device camera (used only for the Photo Face Target game mode)
  • Staff login credentials (stored locally as salted, iterated password hashes — PBKDF2-SHA-256)
  • Venue configuration (venue name, branding colors, lane settings)
  • Sponsor logos and ad content uploaded by staff

All venue and player data remains on the device and is never transmitted over the internet.

Local network communication

When the Staff Dashboard feature is enabled, tablets on the same local network (LAN) communicate via:

  • NSD/Bonjour for device discovery (local network only)
  • HTTP for lane status polling and remote commands (local network only)

This communication occurs exclusively within the venue's local network. No data leaves the local network.

Camera Usage

The app requests camera access solely for:

  • Player profile photos — optional, used for display within the app
  • Photo Face Target game mode — captures a photo to use as a game target

Photos are stored locally on the device and are never uploaded or shared externally.

Third-Party Services

ThrowZone does not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or cloud storage. Venue scoring data, player names, photos, and session history never leave the venue's local network.

App Store subscriptions (iOS only)

When a venue owner subscribes to the Staff Dashboard plan on iOS, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. In that flow:

  • Apple receives your Apple ID and payment information. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy
  • ThrowZone receives only entitlement metadata from Apple — product identifier (e.g. "Staff Dashboard monthly"), current status (trial / active / grace / expired), trial end date, and next renewal date. We do not receive your name, email, billing address, or payment method.
  • The entitlement metadata is used locally on the staff-dashboard tablet to unlock features and track remaining lane slots. It is not transmitted to any external server.

If the Staff Dashboard subscription is not enabled at a venue, no App Store billing data is collected.

Children's Privacy

ThrowZone does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Player names entered during gameplay are stored locally and are not transmitted.

Data Retention and Deletion

All venue and player data is stored locally on the device and can be deleted by:

  • Clearing game history through the app's staff settings
  • Uninstalling the app (removes all local data)
  • Resetting the device
